From the start I told B, ‘I am NOT a web designer’, but ‘USE the creation of a simple, free, easy to construct website as an ingredient for getting you on the web’. I call this localization. A website need not be 10k or $3,000 but can be done for $200.
I take what I know about business, and help launch folks to the web, and its WAY more than a website, but taking them on a clear minded and short journey based on savvy, and set up a sensible email address, consolidating key files to Google Docs or Drive, coordinating with Facebook, establishing Google+, and, in this case, Yelp. The latter is not critical but for her industry is required! In services, you need Google+ or what is really a searchable location or identity at maps, Google Maps, and mirror this back to Yelp. Then helping coach them on getting recommendations and becoming searchable on Google. It is gold!
She saw what I did yesterday and was delighted, and called the owner of her services business location, who was also very happy. Its not just making a website, but creating an entire communications package.
I made a simple, direct hand out flyer for her this morning, and we can print it as quarter sheets, not 8 1/2″ x 11″ but 4.2″ x 5.5″, is much more inviting. I added her photo, put a small map on there, her key rates, and a simple message or miniker. Viola. And guide her. Seven hours, maybe eight. Billed her just for six. The gift of giving. And her joy. And my joy to see her being satisfied, exceeding expectations.
