There comes a point where you are not an end user, not a student, not a customer, not a consumer, but source your own work. You would rather be a provider than a consumer, rather generate your own data than simply read data, rather be teaching a class or seminar instead of attending one, and developing your own views instead of just reading so called experts.
I do not like canned software. I made my own tools. Instead of a CRM or contact management system, I create my own spreadsheets to record basic information. Knowing my memory will know who is who and what I am doing, but simply want to know the emails, phone numbers, name, and simple notes.
The key is not just to record main customers, that one is easy toward near unnecessary if you work with a small set of clientele, but rather to establish who your prospects are, then call them. But the real value is when you record not who you work with, not who you are trying to work with, but who you WANT to work with. Hear a name, just type them in. Its like a wish list. You compile names.
I read a LOT of financial news and watch a lot of feed off of CNBC and Bloomberg, but I develop my own data to measure key prices, price change, and relative performance on major asset classes. So as I consume opinion, I am not taking opinion to GET my findings, but taking my finding and comparing them to what is being said. It is in reverse. And I have daily data and weekly data. You compile relative performance .
I am very concerned about the planet. We are really in serous trouble. Climate, energy, population, water, food, economics, habitat. I need say little. But while there are over two hundred countries, basically twenty to forty of them have a major impact on our world. So I took world population data, and compiled it, then next to that, put GDP, military population, nuclear power, life expectancy for health or quality of life, and CO2 emissions. So when I read or listen or reflect, I have a place to compile the footprint of the planet .
As you create accounts, record passwords to a master list, with usernames, recovery information, associated email. This is gold.
I spent a lot of years playing internet chess and have consulted there. Life is too busy to play at the level I desire, and it is a bit all or nothing. But I continue to watch major chess and more or less keep up. I have tracked the growth of users, and this is a great view for those who like these sort of things. Sorry. Very esoteric but valuable to cognoscenti!
For clients, I make heavy use of Google Docs, aka Drive, to share docs, share notes, give them access to work in progress, resource tools and resources to them. This is extensive. At an appropriate time, I will share examples but must remain private. And this is the stuff (‘sh_t’) I get paid to do. The above can at least illustrate an approach or way of doing things.
